Matariki Celebration 2026
Nau mai, hoki mai. Pukerua Bay's Matariki Celebration is back for 2026!
This year’s kaupapa will be Ururangi, the star from the Matariki cluster which is connected to atmospheric conditions, wind and the sky.
The event will be an opportunity to celebrate the present and gather to give thanks for what we have. ✨
Matariki Hautapu dawn gathering
We are introducing a dawn hautapu gathering at Pukerua Beach Pou as part of our local Matariki happenings.
Community Art Stars Drop-in
Pop in to Pukerua Bay RSA any time between 12:30pm and 4:30pm, and make your own contribution to Pukerua Bay's Matariki celebration with our Community Art Stars.
Kids must be supervised by a parent or caregiver and make sure to bring some snacks to keep you fuelled up!
Lantern Making Workshop
Come along to Pukerua Bay RSA and make your own paper lantern to celebrate Matariki.
We'll guide you through designing and constructing your own lantern to take home and light your way into the new year at Pukerua Bay's Matariki Celebration 2025 on 28th June.

ANZAC Day Remembrance
A day to acknowledge all those who have died in warfare, and honours returned servicemen and women.
8am - "Stand to" at RSA Club rooms, 5-7 Wairaka Road.
11am - Community Remembrance Service at St Marks, Rawhiti Road, Pukerua Bay.
12 Noon - Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Wall of Remembrance, Whenua Tapu Cemetery, Airlie Road.
Following the formal parts of the day, from around 11:30am, the RSA Clubrooms in Wairaka Road will be open for companionship and refreshments.
