Ururangi our connection to atmospheric conditions, wind and the sky

E tū Ururangi e

Tukua mai he hau kōtengitengi

Tukua mai he hau pūrekereke

He hau hei miri i te kiri

I te puāwaitanga o te tahuna i te hau

Behold Ururangi

Send a gentle breeze

Send a puff of wind

A wind to caress my skin

The raupō flower blossoms in the wind

Our interactions with Ururangi can be seen in the quality of the air we breathe, the visibility of the night sky, and the winds that are used to fill the sails of our navigating ancestors and those who continue the practice of navigating the oceans. The wind can also be destructive. The Pūrerehua or butterfly will be a key visual theme for this year, representing transformation and growth.
