Rotten Luck Fermentation Club Special - sauerkraut and kimchi for the school holidays

Learn how to make kimchi and sauerkraut with locals Kelly and Catherine from Pukerua Bay Fermentation Club.  This will be a hands on session!

BYO knife, wooden spoon, chopping board, big mixing pot/bowl and glass jars!

Salt, sugar and fish sauce and gochugaru chilli flakes for kimchi and carraway seeds for the sauerkraut will be supplied.

If everyone contributes a couple fresh vege/fruit ingredients to share, we will have some options to play with on the day...

  • Green/red cabbage

  • Savoy cabbage

  • Chinese cabbage

  • Daikon/chinese radish

  • Red chillies

  • Apple

  • Mushrooms

  • Carrot

  • Beets

  • Cucumber

  • Garden greens e.g. kale, bok choy, spinach

  • Ginger

  • Onion

  • Garlic 

This session is a fun fundraiser for Pukerua Bay Hub. 

Cost $10 per person -(ADD LINK)

for this you will head away with jars of beautiful kimchi and sauerkraut to continue the fermentation process at home. Kids welcome to join but must be supervised by a caregiver at all times.
