Learn how to make kimchi and sauerkraut with locals Kelly and Catherine from Pukerua Bay Fermentation Club. This will be a hands on session!

Event Details

  • What - 2 hr workshop

  • When - 11am-1pm, 23 September 2025

  • Where - St Marks, 98 Rāwhiti Road, Pukerua Bay (opposite school)

  • Cost - $10 per person and you will head away with jars of beautiful kimchi and sauerkraut to continue the fermentation process at home. Salt, sugar and fish sauce and gochugaru chilli flakes for kimchi and caraway seeds for the sauerkraut will be supplied.

  • What to bring? BYO knife, wooden spoon, chopping board, big mixing pot/bowl and glass jars! If everyone contributes a couple fresh vege/fruit ingredients to share, we will have some options to play with on the day (e.g. Green/red/Savoy/Chinese cabbage - Daikon/Chinese radish - Red chilies - Apple - Mushrooms - Carrot - Beets - Cucumber- Ginger - Onion - Garlic - Garden greens like kale, bok choy, spinach).  

  • Who - Kids welcome to join but must be supervised by a caregiver at all times and will need their own ticket.
